Signature of Project Development Agreement

Paris, December 2 2016 - The international construction group Eiffage, African infrastructure project developer Themis, pan-African water and electricity production and distribution group Eranove and Malagasy company HIER have today entered into a project agreement with Madagascar's Ministry of Energy and Hydrocarbons. This project agreement covers the construction of a 200 MW hydropower plant with a reservoir on the Onive River. The new infrastructure will be built by the Eiffage group and then operated and maintained by the Eranove group after its connection to the grid of Madagascar's national electricity company (JIRAMA). The Sahofika project is set to increase Madagascar's energy supply, and cover the needs of its capital city Antananarivo in particular, with an estimated annual production of 1500 GWh which is equivalent to the average annual consumption of 1.5 million households according to the World Bank Energy Outlook 2014.
